The Institute of Family Businesses was founded by Erika Matwij who has been working to advance Slovak family businesses since 2010.
Our mission is to support Slovak family business owners and researchers who study widespread issues related to running a family business in Slovakia.
In light of the increasing tendency to transfer local businesses into the hands of international companies, we seek to encourage Slovak family businesses to remain in family hands even after their founders’ withdrawal.
In collaboration with a group of experts, we support family business owners. We help them develop their companies through professionalization of management and thereby facilitate transfer of family wealth to the next generation.
